Our mission is to produce knowledge through scientific research on taxonomy, systematics, evolution and biogeography of Neotropical mammals, with emphasis on the lineages of the Order Rodentia. This order assemblesseveral species of smal to medium animals, as rats, spiny-rats, guinea-pigs, chinchilas, nutrias, porcupines and others. The sudy of these in such a speciose group, has great importance to the understanding of the diferente levels of biodiversity and its origin in Brazil. Along with these relevant scientific discoveries, we also aim to foster the development of human resources in this area of knowledge, and to promote the diffusion of this knowledge to the society.
